Our Science

We have discovered that microRNA-29 acts through multiple pathways to treat chronic tendon disease through a master regulator: miR-29a

We have developed TenoMiR®, a proprietary miR-29a mimic.

Injury-induced loss of miR-29a in tenocytes unlocks key disease pathways leading to the development of tendinopathy.

Tendinopathy is a chronic condition marked by tendon pain and impaired function, caused by overuse, degeneration or failed healing.

The main physiological features of tendinopathy are the over-production of collagen 3, increased vascularization, hyperproliferation of tendon cells (tenocytes) and adhesion formation.

The injury induced loss of miR-29a is a key step in the activation of the disease pathways responsible for tendinopathy.

Restoration of miR-29a effectively suppresses tendinopathy-related disease pathways, leading to unprecedented healing.

TenoMiR®

TenoMiR® is a one-time injectable that targets the underlying molecular cause of tendinopathy, promotes tendon repair, improves function and resolves pain. TenoMiR® also has the potential to reduce the need for painful and costly surgery.
